October 2024 Update

Progress continues on the transformation of this great old building. Please note our new address (296 Lamb Street, Leamington), although it may be a while before you can search online for the building using it.

Many members have given generously of their time and skills to move your project on, our thanks to all of them: without you guys we couldn’t have come so far so quickly!

Under the leadership of Marty Senior, supported by his crew, we now have the structure of the smoko and kitchen area, with insulation in and inner lining due to go up in the next couple of days. Toilets also framed, awaiting finish once the plumber has installed the whiteware and connected the services.

We have power and lighting inside, the main lights are really effective and provide all the working illumination we will need.

The roof tin  has been fully replaced on the Carlyle St. side and repaired temporarily on the East side. We’re not expecting any more leaks. New powered roller doors were installed on Friday 25th; they will enhance building security and help keep us warmer in winter. They look great!

Neil Grubb and Nick Dromgoole have made up inner security screens for the large windows and once painted they will be ready to install.

Cambridge Lions have generously donated a set of 20 comfortable chairs for the smoko room and two tubs for handwashing etc..

Passers-by will see that the posts for a perimeter fence on Carlyle and Lamb streets are in, fence and gates coming in the next few days.

We have had a steady stream of visitors, keen to see what has been achieved, everyone is really pleased to see this great old building come back to life. If you haven’t called by yet now is a good time to come and have a look.

For your diaries, our first AGM will be on Saturday 7th December at 10.30am. Followed by Grand Opening, more details to follow soon.
